Last Emerging Technology

Animoto

Animoto claims that they are the reason for the "end of slideshows." Well, I agree with their claim. It's a lot easier approach to creating a sort of "slide show video" to tell your own story through picture, music, and video.

This is really user-friendly. All you have to do is upload your pictures and then it basically does all the work for you once you pick your music. Something that is really convenient about Animoto is that it can link to your Facebook profile and just download an entire album onto their site. It's super fast and easy, especially since Facebook and Animoto have faster servers than we could ever imagine having for personal use!

I will definitely use Animoto in the future. You can put your pictures and add captions, and basically just tell your own story through the video. Animoto's website claims that the products you can get from using their site is similar to a movie trailer.

Here is my Animoto show, Hope you enjoy!

P.S. I had a great time with everyone in W200 this semester and I wish you all the best of luck in your careers and futures!

SnapGalaxy!

I used SnapGalaxy to upload my photo album.

http://www.snapgalaxy.com/kylaina/albums

It is an online tool that lets you upload your photos and then order prints if you want to. Your friends and family can easily view your showcased photos on the internet from their own homes and even order prints if they wish to! It's useful because your friends and family can view your photos without you having to do a lot of work. I know this from experience because I recently had family photos done and this would have been a simple way to get everyone to order their own prints. I have family in Evansville and Chicago.

It didn't really take much to learn this technology because it is pretty much exactly like Facebook's photo uploader that I use all the time. It is very user-friendly! The only thing that is a downside about it is that it takes a really long time for photos to upload. Like 9 minutes for 5 reasonably sized photos. I would say it's helpful to me because it's easy for family to see these photos from their own homes. I would say it's also useful for anyone with family that lives far away.

I would suggest having a fast internet connection to use this tool.

Other than that, sign up and get ready for easy photo sharing!

RSS - Who would've thought?

So simple, what a time-saver!!!

I love my RSS feed! I don't have to click on each individual website to see what is going on! I can get on my blog, click on what seems interesting and then I'm good to go! I love what I have found using my RSS feed. I have found lots of information on the latest technology, all sorts of information in the education world, cute pictures of kittens, all the latest gossip about Jon and Kate, and pictures that make me laugh! The best part about it all is that it's all on the same page! :)

I will definitely check these feeds because I did it anyways, but I just went to each individual website, now I will just stay here! I can find all the information and valuable items that I want to, straight from my own blog!! :)

This is pretty much what I expected RSS to be like but only because I watched that video. I really had no idea what RSS was beforehand, which is strange for me because I'm usually "up with the times." I am glad I have learned about it, it seems like something I will really use daily!

First Emergent Technology - Vodcasting

Vodcasting, Vlogging, Video Blogging

Hello everyone! Anyone else extremely tired of this snow?! I had to take my baby to the doctor today. It was not fun getting him out in this cold! Anyways here is my blog on Vodcasting:

I am exploring Vodcasting. It is simply a video of you on the internet. It has a lot of uses. For example, if you have a classroom website or blog you could record you showing students how to do something. It's hard to understand directions through text-only, so a video of the teacher showing step-by-step instructions perhaps for an assignment would be extremely helpful. It would be a little online classroom for students to have after hours. I know there were plenty of times where I wished I could see a teacher show a math problem example one more time so I could understand my assignment better. This could be done via Vodcasting. It's so simple!

I thought it was very simple to Vodcast. I simply used my digital camcorder and uploaded my video to Youtube and then embedded it (using html) into this blog post. Youtube is definitely user-friendly! I've never had a problem with it. Having html knowledge is so helpful! If you would like to learn some basic html here is a great website:

Anyone could use Vodcasting for really anything they could ever dream of! If you had relatives that live far away, you could keep a blog using Vodcasts to keep your family updated! If you wanted to get yourself out there as a musician, Vodcasts could be for you! In my case, I just wanted to play some guitar for mine.

If you wanted to Vodcast often and don't really mind medium-quality video, buy a cheap webcam! They run from twenty to thirty dollars and are easy to use! Many computers (mostly laptops) are having a built-in webcam come standard on the computer. Mine has one, but I wanted to strive for a little better quality so I used my digital camcorder.

The Solar System

My slideshow presentation:

This is definitely not a first!

Hello classmates! My name is Kylaina Ping. I just had an awesome baby boy January 6th! His name is Braylon. His dad and I thought we made his name up, but now I'm hearing it everywhere! I am a sophomore at IUPUC, studying Elementary Education. This is not my first blog, nor is it my second. I'm pretty sure I've had about twenty blogs. The problem that I have with blogs is keeping up with them. I'll use one for about a month and then I'm over it. Then a few months later, I'm ready to blog again. Instead of posting on my old blog, I'll just create a new one. I guess that's good for me though because I have a lot of experience setting up blogs! If I had to give you advice, I would say learn basic html! It's so handy to know, especially if you want to do a lot of customizing on blogger or myspace!
